RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

I always promise myself that I'll get SOMETHING ANYTHING done each day -- even if it's just thinking about a solution to something on buying some bit of wood or hardware I need. I rarely sit down...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Good to see you on the move again! I'm always amazed at how LOOOOOOONG the nose on the SE5a is. This is one of the things that makes it such a great flying model as opposed to so many WWI aircraft.

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

The terrible thing about build-threads is that I end up wanting to make one of everything!!! I've already got three projects to finish, have collected reference on several more and yet am STILL...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Hmm...that's a stumper. Since I haven't built this kit all I can offer is what is done on the Flair kits and what seems to be the standard practice on all these stick fuse constructions. Normally,...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Hmm...for some reason these photos are not uploading as thumbnails. I'll try deleting them and re-uploading them again tomorrow.

BTW, the 90 degree manifolds from JustEngines really are useful....

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Here are those photos I promised you of the SE5a at the RAF Museum in Hendon. I hope they are of some use once you get to the detailing stage.

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Actually, we're at pretty much the same point on the trail. Other than three ARF's (a trainer, a Seagull Spacewalker II, and a Lucky Stik) I've only completed a single scale model -- an EIII which...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Everything looks great to me and I'm enjoying your build. But EVERY kit can be improved on so unless you are trying to write a kit review it's probably best not to follow the instructions too...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Posting photos is dead easy if you've got a digital camera. First of all, make sure the photo is in standard .jpg format. Then to upload use the POST REPLY button. Don't use the FAST REPLY box as...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Your fuse is looking good! Looks like a bit more sophisticated building method than on the Flair SE5a. I notice that the undercarriage is located in close to a scale location. How does this...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Here's a shot of the Flair SE5a from their website. It's also sport-scale but like the Funaero looks fairly convincing. Like all the Flair scout kits the airfoil is a bit curved on the bottom but...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

What are the most obvious ways that the Funaero SE5a deviates from scale outlines?

BTW, ditto on pre-bent wires from any kit. I would never assume that pre-bent wires are accurate. Certainly...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

I'm looking forward to the rest of your build as I've been contemplating the Funaero SE5a vs. the Flair SE5a. I like the look of the Funaero's flat-bottomed airfoil a bit more than the curved ones...
