I let mine run down to about a 1/4 - 1/2" above the square front part of the tank. I flew for 6:30 - 7:00 a flight typically.

Just cut down a #11 exacto blade and glue it to a spare servo arm. Install it on the servo. It will cut a slit in the stab. Make a rough cut out. Then clean it up.

The only real binding I've found in both the ultra flashes I built was with the linkage and the hole in the trailing edge of the wing. I had to open up that hole quite a bit.
