Jim you were correct aboput Robart. I just got back from the WRAM Show. Nothing for sale at Robart they just had a Zap display with free handouts. However as I hoped Nick had 2 sets of complete gear, struts, and air supply stuff for the Turbinator and I have both sets now ; now I'm very glad I still went. Also got my hands on the new JR 12 2.4. Futaba has a new 10 channel coming out that is suppose to replace the 9C according to Don Anderson of Great planes. Smaller show with less of a crowd than ever but still worth going too and visiting old friends for the day.

Has anyone created a materials list? Just asking before I sit down and start counting.
I'm going cheep by installing an Electric Turbax Fan System from Jet Hangar Int. The fit looks perfect over the plans. Hope to save $$$$ cheeper power, no brakes needed.

could someone help me with the following please - I am struggling with the correct fit of SS-1 and F14. My top edge of SS-1 (plywood stabilizer seat on inside of fuselage side) comes out a few mm below the top edge of F14, I'll try to upload a picture on this (it is not glued yet). To me something looks wrong here - have I mounted the SS-1's wrongly here? Any help would be much appreciated!

2008 is just around the corner and I got my first project lined up for the new year, yeap!! I decided to build a Turbinator from Nick Ziroli plans, I wanted to build a new airplane ( not a jet ) but the Turbinator simply just, jumped infront of me in the thinking room out of my last AMA magazine ( best place to read that magazine ) so, I said why not no one has one around here and it has been ions since I build and airplane ( relly build one ) I assembled like 15 jets just this year alone, so far I only have a TJ F-16 in my shop ( garage ) ready to fly and a King Cat that is been repaired for my friend Jose' from Stockton.
This year I want to try the small turbines, so I been looking at a Wren and the Jet Cat P-60SE and P-70 for this project. The jet is going to weight between 20 to 22 lbs but it has like 1,200 squere inches of wing area, it will defenitelly be light wing loaded for its weight and size ( fuse is 82" long).
Here are some pictures of the prints, the construction maual is only 4 pages !! WOW, simplicity is the word here. Thank you Nick sr. it will be fun to build and for sure I will be posting updates of the progress on the construction sequence

Yes, they are short kits. You get all of the balsa and plywood curved parts like ribs and bulkheads, but you will need to buy the canopy as a seperate item. You do get the fuse sides but not the balsa for the top skins or any straight balsa for sheeting the fuse or flying surfaces. You need to provide the spruce and balsa strip wood as well. I got 50 pieces of 3/32x48, 10- 1/8x48,10-1/4x48 from international balsa for $88.00 shipped to my house and have over half remaining for the second plane. You will need a little plywood in 1/8 and 1/4 for mounting horns and some various hardwood for the nose gear mount and corner of the fuse stringers. Builds fast, had a good time building mine. I'm working on a BVM Electra now and will start the second one most likely next week. Just ask if you have any questions

Thanks Ron, I have a mental picture about how the fuselage goes together now. As I mentioned, I have an R54 that's completed and ready to go in the spring. I've been involved with R/C planes and boat racing for more years than I care to mention so building is in my blood. Jets are new to me so this spring will be an adventure. I can hardly wait and then again I'm a little apprehensive about my first jet flight. I have experienced help so I won't get myself in trouble with the change from prop to turbine.
The only question I have now is where in McMaster Carr's on line catalog do I find the Nalgene (Nalgene being the tank material I presume) tank? I've looked and can't find it.

John they are listed on page 1658 of the McMaster Carr catalog under Wide-Mouth Rectangular and Square Plastic Bottles type (D) Translucent High-Density Polyethylene— Rectangular I used the 64 oz. 2000 ml size I belive they are about $16.00

Got it Ron. Thank You. If I had switched my brain from "tank" to bottle when I was searching I would have found it. I was hoping it would fit in the R54 but it's not shaped for that application. I have the 50oz. Dubro tank now and want more capacity. It hurts to pay $100 for the composite tank that's available. I will get the 64oz tank (bottle) for my Turbinator.

Very attractive price Ronnie but I have to ask, why the big difference between Nick's short kit and Lazer Design? Wood quality is obviously a very important factor to me. I understand there will be no sheet or strip stock. What's the difference?

It has been some time since I started this thread and 'till now I find myself having the time to build the Turbinator so, I orded a short kit from Laser design services ( I'm just about 7 months behind on this build [:@][:'(] ) I know that Ron S. has flow his with a P-120 so, I think I will install my TJT 3000, I'm not a speed freak so having all that thrust is not an isue for me since I like to manage my speed at all times. I'm already thinking of moving the tail servos closer to the elevator and Rudder like in my viper jet bacause the added thrust.
Take a look.

I had to cut a 1/4 inch of off each motor mount rail to fit the P-120 in the engine bay. I also removed the rear tank bulkhead to fit in the 100 oz Kangaroo tank from Jet -Tech and about 1/8 from the hatch formers so it would close. I am flying about 10 minutes with the
P-120 but nevee use full thrust even for take off. I did also cut 1 inch off of the nose strut as the heaver engien and fuel changed how the plane sat on the runway. Enjoy the plane it flies great and slows way down for landing with full flaps so pay attention when you close the throttle as you can get it to slow and bounce it causing the nose pivot pin to bend and or break (ask me how I found out) I'll see if I can get pictures to load up last time I tried they wouldn't load.

Can be done but too much work for a 72" wing.

You guys are sick [:-][:@], but at the same time I like tha idea so, please include me 'cause I will be building a second one soon after and a two pice wing is something I had in mind from the very begining.
Here is what I was able to do so far today in between the kids lunch and dinner and naps and everything. I will be using carpinters glue for the firs time to see how it works, so far it is drying very fast like in two mim. I can handle the glued parts, not bad at all. Oh yes, got to have some type of refresment 'cause the temps here are soooooooooo high, it's past 10 pm and the out side temp is 84 F.

I order my wood from Balsa USA about a week or so ago, just under $100.00 for all the wood and sprus needed, really nice wood good grade and clean no complains here, it got home yesterday. I started cunstructing today with the crutch and bulkheads, all this while the kid was taking her nap.
Take a look, more to be build tonight.
