Dave,
I'm following your build and pics closely as I too have the green/white/blue Ultra Flash on order. Keep the good info and pics coming! Question: Do the Behotec C36/2 retracts have the trailing links on the mains?
Regards,

Gus

The CARF set uses C36-2 units with trailing link legs from Airtech Germany and Intairco wheels. On this model I'm using Jet 1A legs, but everything else is stock (CARF were out of legs at JP)

regards

Dave

Dave,

Have you used the Carf matching paint and catalyst in the past?

If so What percentage of catalyst did you add to the paint. What do you use to thin the paint for spraying?

Thanks,

Stan

When I used the paint, I mixed it like PPG concept, 4 parts color, 1 part hardner, 2 part reducer for a mini gun, more reducer for an airbrush.

Quist,

Whose and which reducer did you use?

I am not familar with using a reducer. The paint is quite thick.

Thanks,

Stan

Never used it. I find the colour match is poor unless you paint as the "in the mould" process where paint is put on in layers over each other. where I need to touch in I use a local body shop who mix spray cans to match the actual paint.

Come on Dave, get on with it. We are all looking forward to seeing it demonstrated on Friday. If the phone rings get Wink to answer it!

Yeah, come on Dave. We're all looking forward to sitting in our cars as the rain pours down at Abingdon, watching you do a mariners test flight on the UF.

Weather for Friday isn't looking too good at the moment.

Dave, you have three nights, and two days, if I was a betting man I would say you will fly it on Friday

Hope you all have good luck with the weather at C.J.

2 FLASHMAIDENS

Well Dave looks like we will have 2 Flash maidens on Friday (weather permitting)as I have just finished programming my new unflown standard Flash (thunderbirds scheme) today.
Should be no problem finishing your UF just 2 days and3 evenings to go.Good Luck.

Cracked on tonight, stuff ended up where it did just because...
Having flown it the balance point is easily achieved with everything in stock position. I have 3 Li-Po's in the stock battery boxes and balance is good now with them at the front of each box. 2 x Graupner 3000 2s Rx Li-Pos and 1 x Graupner 5200 2s 45c ECU

Hey Dave,

I see the nosewheel steering servo is upside down. This is the first time I have seen this. Is this an 'official' mod or something you are doing off your own back?

Did it so I could use a 9 channel Rx, the rudder and nose steering servo then work the same way through a Y lead...
M&R UAT dock, 2 minutes-free, 5 grams..:-)

I am so tempted to comment on the fact that you only have 9 channels as opposed to my normal radio that has 14 but that would be childish

We have 12 proportional channels...but WE have the choice of Rx.

T Mmm not really, just in and working, having done two before it helps

Dave,
In post #40 you have painted the ply mounting brackets with gray paint. You sealed them first with finishing epoxy (ZAP 40?) then painted gray? Any special paint used for the gray? Thanks again for the build thread, I'm still waiting (im)patiently for my UF.
Regards,
Gus

Gus

Three coats of ZAP 40, then acrylic aerosol. It's jet fuel proof enough. With more time I would have primed it too, but the ZAP 40 gives a good base to paint on. I'm having some UF kits shipped by air from the factory as the damm boat is too slow! Got a custom scheme coming too.
