RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

badangle - I can't give you an exact weight as the wings are off for transporting to the field. I'm guessing around 24 lbs. but I'll weigh it when I go to fly it again.
The 7-77 had way more power...

Hi all - It's been a while since I've posted here but I wanted to let anyone who is interested that I finally flew my Waco with the 7-77 in it.
It was an excellent flight and all went well. The...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

Pictures ??? I have a ASP 400 5 Cyl Radial about to arrive and am going to see if it will fit on the TF Corsair. Some pictures of what you're doing would be of great help.

Thanks,
Galen

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

I use the Mcdaniel glow driver. I have only run the engine for break in but found the glow driver to be handy to start, then I turn it off. Seems to idle just fine with out it. Others have a lot more...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

Yes - I have run the engine quite a bit. I'm getting 5000 RPM with a 24X10 prop. I haven't run it since I adjusted the valves but they needed quite a lot of adjusting so I'll probably see an increase...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

Tom - There's a good 1/2 " between the cowl and the rockers. The plywood mount ring inside the cowl would not let the cowl slip over the engine. I cut about 8" off the bottom of the ring and it...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

Here's what I have settled on. Ordered from Hobby - Lobby and they shipped it the next day. An excellent ARF. If anyone gets one let me know as I have some items worth talking about. The UMS 7-77 fit...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

Tom - I just looked at the Waco. Do you know for sure the cowl would fit over the 7-77?
Looks like a great airplane for ir.

booker-RCU,

There are a few reasons why one cylinder may run cooler than the others. As Tom says, it may be a plug fouled slightly with oil. OR it may be a...

RE: UMS Evolution Radial Care and Operation

I got my EVO 777 running yesterday. What a sweetheart of an engine. No problems getting it started. It needed just a little prime and took right off. I have the McDaniel glow driver plus the Kelo...
