A couple of years ago I posted my build of the Tamiya Type 10. I said at the time that I would never buy another Tamiya model. Well I lied and have just completed the M1A2. Like the type 10 we got off to a bad start with a missing part but I was able to resolve from my spares bin thank goodness. This was intended as a piece of occupational therapy for the winter so I held off starting until 1st January but it has not taken as long as I expected and is now completed. I will take pictures and video if there is any interest and, like the type 10, now it is finished I am looking to sell it on.

Sorry for the delay, health issues are dogging me again. Also my inexperience on posting in forums is evident as the photos do not seem to have uploaded in the order that I expected. My spraying was made very difficult by the weather conditions here at the time & I thought I could get away with touching in by brush. Tamiya had other ideas as the light sand colour is only available in this country as a spray. I have a pot on order from Italy but who knows when it will arrive. I still have to take more pictures and video so bear with me. For those of you looking for pitfalls to avoid and problems to resolve, GOOD NEWS this model assembled absolutely trouble free just follow the instructions and there you are.

That tube coming from the speaker box, is that the bass port?

No I don't think so, it just directs the sound to the appropriate area for engine noise.

Thank you. Sadly the health issues are never going to get any better, ran out of options last year just making the best of my last months.

You mentioned the Type 10 and M1A2 that you built.

Can you offer some advice/comments on how the two modern kits compare?

I only have the Leo2A6 as my reference builds of Tamyia modern tanks.

I found the Type 10 a bit disappointing as features which were obviously designed into it had been omitted in production, presumably to reduce costs, although the price to the consumer did not seem to reflect this. Having said that it made a fine model with no significant snags.
The M1A2 is not cheap but impressed me. Of all the Tamiya r/c models I have built this was the finest, almost too easy to assemble when you are looking for a challenge!

Thanks for the kind words people. Just back from the hospital where they confirmed that there is nothing more that can be done so I'd better crack on with the Tamiya Mercedes-Benz AROCS 3348 6X4 Tipper truck. This is the most complicated Tamiya R/C model I have tackled yet with the tipping mechanism and mfcu and yet there is still room for improvement so my soldering iron & drill have found themselves in demand.

It's nearly there, fully functional, paintwork looking better than I expected (hate painting especially at this time of year when it is so difficult to get the temperature in the workshop right), just a few details to add and the fiddly labels to cut out. Why the tanks have decals and the trucks sticky labels only Tamiya can answer. Will post pics and a YouTube video soon.

Every Tamiya 1/10 and 1/12 buggy I have ever built, and I have built many, have had the "sticky labels" for some reason. Some kits like the Hornet were a pain in the rear to get those stripes lined up properly. Especially those hold over kits from the 80's.
